“Leave that for the moment. He’s here for you.”

Huo Yunting nodded at the man sitting opposite him.

Lu Zhaoyang turned to look at the guest, who looked about forty years old with a roundish face. His tummy was slightly protruding underneath his navy blue suit. This was clearly a man of privilege.

The planning department’s director, Liu Jiang, was a capable staff.

“Director Liu, how may I help you?” She gave a formulaic response.

“Secretary Lu, this is the document you sent to my office yesterday.” Lu Jiang passed a document to her.

Lu Zhaoyang accepted it curiously. She noticed immediately that Huo Yunting had not signed it. That got her even more intrigued.

She looked up from the document and gave it a wave. “What’s the problem?”

“Didn’t you notice that there a few pages missing from it? As the head secretary, that’s irresponsible of you!”

Liu Jiang snatched the document away from her, flipped to the part where an entire section was missing, and showed it to her.

Lu Zhaoyang had left the document on her desk yesterday when she was asked to Huo Yunting’s office. She came back later and delivered the document without checking it again.

If the error did not occur at Liu Jiang’s side, then it must have happened when she left her desk.

“Apologies, I missed out on this error. It would be much appreciated if you could send over another copy, Director Liu.”

Her only option now was to minimize damage, and then find the perpetrator.

“Sending another copy is no problem, but your work attitude is. Had I not checked this particular document, presenting this to our client would be embarrassing for Thunderbolt Corp!”

Liu Jiang looked at her, determined to find someone to blame.

Lu Zhaoyang was about to speak again when Huo Yunting said carelessly, “Do you mean to say that you don’t usually check the documents?”

“Of course not, Mr President!” Liu Jiang quickly explained himself. Everyone knew that their president’s careless front belied the fact that he ruled with an iron fist.

“Since the company suffered no lost, there’s nothing else to complain about.” Huo Yunting signed the document and flung it on his desk.

Liu Jiang quickly took it and was about to leave the office when Huo Yunting spoke again.

“I want you to settle this error.”

“Yes, sir!” Liu Jiang replied and left, leaving Lu Zhaoyang to face Huo Yunting alone.

“Why the fuss?” Lu Zhaoyang spread out the documents she brought in and took a quick look through them to make sure nothing was amiss. She then flipped to the page for the signature and pushed the papers to her boss, handing a pen to him as well in the process.

“The troublemaker should be sussed out, or do you think I should allow them to cause more problems?”

He signed the documents without a care and took another look at her. “Didn’t sleep well last night?”

“Not at all!” She replied in annoyance.

“Are you blaming me for not trying harder?”

“You... don’t have to do anything more.” She passed another document to him and tried to stay calm. “Shouldn’t we be able to check the surveillance tapes to know who did it, or have you already done that?”

Huo Yunting looked down at the dotted line on the paper and drew his signature. “She’s not as smart as you.”

“You’re too kind.”

Lu Zhaoyang watched him carry out his duties, unable to figure out if he was referring to Mo Shan or Yu Man’er.

Lu Zhaoyang picked up his cup and refilled it water, and then brought it back to him. She thought of the gossip doing rounds in the secretary department and said plainly, “Photos of us dining together have been making rounds online.”
