Cornered by the CEO

Chapter 399: The Bosss Wife Was Obidient

Chapter 399: The Boss's Wife Was Obidient

She didn't mean to say this in an awfully manipulative way.

"I know. You would have left the company to rot if you weren't concerned about all those people. I don't think your reputation would suffer because of Father's misgivings. But…" he trailed off.

"I heard that his office was surrounded."

"Yes, the employees have done that. It's a peaceful protest. He is not in any danger. It's a powerful statement on the part of the employees. It is their right to protest and ask for answers when their lives are at risk. They simply want answers, nothing else." Her explanation was simple.

"I fear… his blood pressure…"

The idea clicked in her mind. "Shit…" she cursed. And then she stopped herself. "If you aren't free today… what about tomorrow?" she asked.

"That's fine!" he stated. He clearly heard the urgency in her voice. "Do you need to tend to something urgently?" he inquired.

"Yes. I just remembered something," she told him quickly. "I'll text you later, okay?"

Without much ceremony, she hung up and called Li Min in.

"Inform the secretaries that Mr. Yun's food and medicine need to be delivered on time without delay. He has high blood pressure."

Li Min raised her brow. "You want him well-fed?"

Qian Meng shook her head. "Mr. Yun has high blood pressure. He uses it at times to make others feel guilty. The protest is peaceful, don't let it be ruined by the old man's obsession with slandering people."

Li Min's eyes widened with worry. "I'll go right now," she commented before sprinting out.

Qian Meng clucked her tongue, reprimanding herself for not remembering this. The sit-in protest was not the protest she had imagined. Actually, she was more sure people would be enraged enough to be violent, but this was better. No one got hurt this way and the police couldn't be violent.

Li Min called her instead of coming in.

"Boss, I am keeping track of everything. The executives must have called the police. I received pictures of two pickup cars a block away from the Yun Corp office. They have a lot of police stationed just in case things turn violent. Food and medicine are being delivered on time to Mr. Yun." The information was thrown at Qian Meng without reserve.

Qian Meng hummed. "Okay. It's time for us to leave for lunch, too. You can stay back. Keep me informed on text."

Li Min was silent. "You will bring only the bodyguard?" she asked.

"Yes, he alone is fine. You can make base here and filter information," Qian Meng had an authoritative lilt to her voice.

The phone was cut and she looked around her room.

"We'll just have lunch for now. The plan is back to normal," she told the bodyguard. She made one last command on her brokerage account before packing up and slinging her back over her shoulder.

He walked a step behind her, his eyes roving over every single person in Qian Meng's proximity. He looked around the parking lot before allowing her into the sight of anyone who was sitting inside a car to wait for her.

He was swift in getting her inside the car and getting in himself.

He got out of the parking lot and watched in the rearview mirror as the car continued to tail them.

"Still following?" Qian Meng asked with a shred of excitement.

"Allow them to follow us," she said.

The bodyguard looked over at her, concealing his surprise.

He had already found out who the car belonged to. He had the CCTV footage from the security team and identified who was following them. It seemed like they had no intention of harming Yun Qian Meng. Instead, they were there to monitor her every mood as she had anticipated.

But letting them tail her purposely… it meant that she wanted Mr. Yun to know about something without having to use others.

They pulled up in front of the restaurant.

"Park in the restaurant parking lot. Where everyone can see," she said quickly.

The bodyguard thought the same. He didn't want a valet handling the car or tampering with it. But it also meant that Qian Meng would have to walk a short distance from the parking lot to the front entrance of the restaurant.

He could need to be more cautious, but this was the best course of action.

He had heard about people tampering with her previous car, so he wouldn't take any car-related chances.

She checked the watch one last time, not getting out of the car until Li Wenyue pulled up.

She noticed a car pulling into the driveway and looked at it carefully. Once she saw Li Wenyue appear out of it, she cleared her throat.

"Let's head out," she said slowly and slid to the other side of the war, waiting for the bodyguard to guide her out.

She slid out and walked over to Li Wenyue, who was stunned to see her.

"Why didn't you head inside the restaurant?" he asked as she raised her hand for a handshake.

"I had some work that I needed to finish. I saw you pull up, so I decided to come out." She smiled politely.

Li Wenyue finally claimed her extended hand and gave it a firm shake. A sign of camaraderie. "Let's go in, shall we?" he spoke.

Qian Meng nodded and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before motioned him to go before her.

The bodyguard watched the interaction, making sure from the corner of his eyes that the tailing car was in an excellent view of this interaction.

Mrs. Mo had managed to capture the scene perfectly.

He straightened his cuff, silently pleading that the boss's wife was obedient and reasonable like she was now. If she put her mind to mischief, she would find a way to lose him and run around.

Inside the confines of the car that tailed Qian Meng sat a middle-aged man with a camera good enough to take professional wildlife photography.
