Cultivation Through Artifacts

Chapter 280 - A Little Surprise

Khal frowned deeply when he heard how the man talked and crossed his arms before his chest in a calm but confident manner.

"And what if I don't?"

The man sneered seeing Khal's behavior, thinking he was rather arrogant, and said, "I see you don't know how to respect your elders, especially the ones that are stronger than you by a huge margin!"

Swish!

As the man's voice fell, a powerful presence close to the Eighth Cultivation Stage broke forth from his body, surprising many on the streets.

Even Liza was alarmed and looked even slightly pale as she realized just how vast the gap between her and the man truly was. It seemed the man hid his presence on purpose, making her believe he was only at the Fifth Cultivation Stage!

If she were to attack him, she certainly would have lost while sustaining several grave injuries or even worse, getting killed by offending such a powerful expert.

But luckily Khal appeared just in time, making her avoid such a disaster.

"So? Will you f*ck off willingly or should I help you? The choice is yours." the man stared at Khal with sharp and cold eyes, seemingly ready to teach him a few lessons.

'He doesn't even have a cultivation base yet tries to act strong and mighty. Then let me teach him how to behave properly by breaking a few of his bones if his father failed to do so!'

Khal looked at the man with curiosity and couldn't help but smile in the end, thinking he was rather... cute, to say the least.

The man noticed this change on Khal's face and it immediately triggered him, thus why he summoned a sword into his grasp while his whole being started to emit killing intent.

"I see, so you wish to die. Then I will kill you right away!" hissed the man, but even before he could have taken a step forward, Khal sighed and waved his hand.

Swish!

"H-Huh?" the man widened his eyes with shock while his expression paled and watched as a black fan was gently placed before his neck.

It was apparent that if he moved even an inch forward or tried to swallow his neck will be cut open in a split second!

"I will say this only once so listen carefully," said Khal and leaned closer to the man, while his hand pushed his weapon a little bit deeper into the man's throat, making a string of blood flow down.

"Scram off and don't let me see you ever again or I will make sure you will never see daylight ever again!"

"S-Sure!" the man, whose completion already was paler than a sheet of paper nodded hurriedly and fell back onto his arse before he staggered back up onto his feet and ran away as if he just saw a ghost.

Everyone around who saw this scene looked stupified, perplexed, and confused by the previous scenes. None of them understood what happened and stared at Khal with eyes that tried to figure out an explanation.

Meanwhile, Khal just simply sighed and turned around to look at Liza, only to find her leaping figure before him.

"Woah! Haha!" Khal caught Liza with a chuckle as he didn't expect this, but still hugged her back, even petting Rubie who seemed to be just as happy to see him as Liza.

"You are finally back. I thought you will never come back! You made me worry, you know that right?" Liza said somewhat angrily as she stepped back and looked up at Khal.

"Hehe... Sorry..." Khal only smiled bitterly as he could say nothing.

He knew what could have Liza felt as he was indeed away for quite a long time, but luckily now he was back and everything was perfectly fine.

Liza narrowed her eyes seeing Khal smile like an idiot, but as she knew he didn't travel to the neighborhood city but far away, to the Western Continent, she just sighed helplessly and asked, "Instead tell me everything that happened with you! I can't wait to hear what kind of journey you have gone through! It must have been difficult for sure."

Khal nodded and said, "That is true, it was not an easy trip at all. But before I say anything more, I need to show you something. I have brought you a present, you will definitely like it."

"Huh? A present? I am no longer a kid you know right?" Liza frowned, but it was apparent from her shining eyes that she was dying to know what kind of present she will get.

Khal just chuckled as he found her adorable as she tried to disguise her curiosity, but instead of answering he quickly grabbed her hand and pulled away.

"It's somewhere else, so I will bring you there."

Khal brought Liza through several stalls before he took her inside a building with which Liza was perfectly familiar.

"Lunar Tavern? Why are we here? Where is everyone?" Liza asked several questions as she looked at Khal and the empty restaurant in confusion, but Khal just led her forward with a mysterious smile on his face, refusing to answer her.

"Here we are." Khal stopped before a huge door on the highest floor, and stepped to the side.

"Ladies first."

Liza knitted her delicate brows together, but as she already wanted to get answers to her questions that she didn't get from Khal, she didn't hesitate and pushed the doors open and walked inside.

However, the very moment she did, a huge circular table filled with luxurious food welcomed her with two figures, a woman and a butler, standing before it, both looking at her with a calm smile on their faces.

"You look just as beautiful as ever, Liz," said Miss Mary with a calm smile as she walked before Liza.

'...'

Liza stood motionlessly before the entrance and stared at Miss Mary with widened eyes while her lips and body trembled unconsciously from the indescribable shock she was currently feeling.

And just a second later, she jumped at Miss Mary, as he did with Khal, but with the sole difference that this time thick tears flowed down from the corner of her eyes, and her arms locked tightly around Miss Mary's waist, almost breaking her core!

"Haha! Easy, easy! You will kill me!" laughed Miss Mary, but still let Liza hug her the way she did and hugged her back in an exact way a mother would her child.
