Doomsday: I Become Invincible By Picking Up

Chapter 176

C176 – Rescue

Inhaling deeply, he initiated the circulation of the Law of Time.

Unlike his previous visits, with the time extraordinary talent now elevated to the Law of Time, traversing through time and space became even more effortless.

The surrounding landscape began to shift rapidly.

Loong Chen could perceive time flowing at a different pace.

Once again, he found himself in the wilderness, beside Dugu Lengyue, whose life force continued to wane.

Time reverted to a point before its passage, as if nothing had transpired.

Only Loong Chen remained certain that events had indeed unfolded.

“Lengyue, I will save you without fail!”

Loong Chen lifted Dugu Lengyue and invoked the Law of Time, suspending time around her.

With Loong Chen’s current mastery of the Law of Time, he could halt time for her for approximately thirty minutes without encountering resistance.

Loong Chen vanished in a flash, reappearing moments later in the Hall of Fame of the Dragon God Temple.

His only hope now rested with Loong Ling.

Having lived for over three hundred years, Loong Ling possessed extensive experience. Perhaps she held a solution.

Initially immersed in meditation within the Hall of Fame, Loong Ling suddenly sensed a spatial disturbance nearby.

Having also attained understanding of the Law of Space, she naturally possessed a heightened sensitivity to spatial fluctuations.

Upon turning her gaze, she caught sight of Loong Chen carrying Dugu Lengyue into the hall.

Before she could fully register her surprise at Loong Chen’s mastery of the Law of Space, Loong Ling hastily shifted her focus to Dugu Lengyue.

“What happened?”

Loong Ling frowned and hurriedly asked.

“Aunt, Lengyue sustained injuries from Zombie Jiangchen and is in grave peril. We must intervene to save her!”

Loong Chen gently placed Dugu Lengyue down, his voice fraught with anxiety.

Loong Ling clasped Dugu Lengyue’s hand and shut her eyes, concentrating intently.

After a few moments, Loong Ling reopened her eyes, her brow creasing in concern.

“You’re saying she encountered Zombie Jiangchen’s assault?”

“Yes.”

Loong Chen affirmed quickly, noting the gravity in Loong Ling’s demeanor, surmising she was acquainted with Jiangchen.

“This presents a considerable challenge. The Law of Death bestowed upon Lengyue by Zombie Jiangchen persists within her, steadily sapping her vitality. Unless we can neutralize this Law of Death, Lengyue’s fate is grim.”

Loong Ling’s tone was grave.

The dark aura enveloping Dugu Lengyue’s heart manifested as the Law of Death.

“The Law of Death?”

Though unfamiliar with this concept, Loong Chen sensed its formidable nature, understanding its eradication would not be straightforward.

“Aunt, why can’t my Law of Life counteract it?”

Loong Chen inquired urgently. Both wielders of Law, yet his Law of Life seemed impotent against it.

“You’ve mastered the Law of Life?”

Loong Ling was taken aback, yet she shook her head in denial.

“Perhaps your Law of Life lacks the strength to combat Jiangchen’s Law of Death.”

Loong Chen’s heart sank. Indeed, his Law of Life remained rudimentary, confined to its initial stage.

Yet, time was a luxury he could ill afford for the enhancement of his Law of Life.

“For now, there might only be one way.”

Loong Ling said after thinking for a while.

“What method?”

Upon hearing of an alternative solution, Loong Chen hastily inquired.

“Only the Zombie King Jiangchen can rescue Lengyue.”

“It’s said that the Zombie King Jiangchen possesses incomparable strength. I must make the journey personally.”

Loong Ling asserted, though inwardly lacking confidence.

Rumors circulated that Zombie Jiangchen had existed for countless millennia, wielding extraordinary might surpassing even that of an Emperor.

Even she questioned her ability to confront it.

Yet, for Dugu Lengyue’s sake, she felt compelled to take the risk.

“No need, aunt. Jiangchen has already been subdued by me.”

Loong Chen’s sudden revelation startled Loong Ling.

She rubbed her ears in disbelief, wondering if she had misheard.

Observing Loong Ling’s astonishment, Loong Chen smiled wryly.

“As per Jiangchen’s own admission, he suffered severe injuries and has lost 90% of his power. Presently, he only ranks around the Emperor Level and has been brought under my control within the Vast Heaven Pagoda.”

Loong Ling breathed a sigh of relief after Loong Chen’s explanation.

She had heard rumors of Loong Chen acquiring the Tower of Trials but refrained from commenting, acknowledging his ownership of the entire Dragon God Temple.

“Then, swiftly permit me entry into the pagoda.”

Loong Ling requested, but Loong Chen shook his head.

“The Vast Heaven Pagoda sustained damage previously, rendering it inaccessible to others. Hence, I must venture inside alone.”

“But what if…”

Loong Ling felt a bit anxious, but Loong Chen reassured her with a smile of relief.

“Within the Vast Heaven Pagoda, I am unbeatable. You can trust in that.”

Upon hearing Loong Chen’s assertion, Loong Ling acquiesced, albeit reluctantly.

Loong Chen promptly produced the Vast Heaven Pagoda. Before entering, he cast a glance at Loong Ling.

“Aunt, I have a question for you.”

“What is it?” queried Loong Ling, taken aback.

She appeared mildly surprised.

“Three hundred years ago, did you and my father happen to know someone named Chen Loong?”

Loong Ling’s countenance momentarily stiffened at Loong Chen’s inquiry, her expression reflective. After a brief pause, she shook her head.

“I can’t recall knowing him, though the name does ring a bell. Why do you ask?”

Loong Chen sighed inwardly. In truth, he had already gleaned this information upon grasping the Law of Time.

His existence from three centuries prior had been expunged from history.

From the moment of his departure, he ceased to exist within the annals of time.

“Nothing, I was just casually asking.”

Loong Chen remarked casually before transforming into a beam of light and entering the Vast Heaven Pagoda.

Inside the Vast Heaven Pagoda, a figure sat cross-legged: the motionless Corpse King, Jiangchen.

A spatial disturbance flickered, and suddenly Loong Chen’s form materialized beside Jiangchen.

Sensing something, Jiangchen’s closed eyes gradually opened.

“You seem quite at ease.”

Loong Chen glanced at the smiling Jiangchen and responded.

“Not too bad. I’ve been confined within the Bloody Castle for millennia. I’ve grown accustomed to this sensation.”

“Moreover, I anticipated your arrival.”

Jiangchen’s demeanor remained as composed as ever, unaffected by external circumstances.

“What makes you so certain?”

“Because the young girl possesses my Law of Death within her. In this realm, no one but me can rescue her.”

Indeed, as Loong Ling had mentioned, only Jiangchen held the key to saving Dugu Lengyue.

“Since you’re aware, let’s dispense with formalities. Save Lengyue, and I will grant your freedom. How does that sound?”

Loong Chen said coldly.

“No.”

Jiangchen smiled and shook his head.

“I don’t mind enduring millennia here, but you’re the one in urgent need of time. Thus, this proposition lacks logic.”

“Then what do you want?”

Loong Chen stared at Jiangchen.

Jiangchen also looked at Loong Chen and said word by word.

“I want you!”
