The Vampire's Love: You Are My Destiny

Chapter 62 - A Gift!

Suddenly Laura's world was turned upside down. She was super devastated that the guy she falls in love with already has a fiancee and he looks proud and happy while introducing the woman to her.

Her heart was broken to pieces, it's her first-ever heartbreak that killed her inside.

In the next two days, she looked okay outside but she's nursing a pain inside.

But regardless of what happened she still has the burning desire to see Graven and asked if he and Luke are the same person? Why can't she let go of that notion!? Even if Graven and Luke are of the same person, what's the point now? He already had a fiancee! And she's going to marry his brother! They can never be together again!

Because of what happened, Laura chose to stay in her room all day long. She no longer ventured to the mini-park. She wants to avoid seeing Graven's house, it reminds her so much of the pain.

On the third day.

Laura was in deep slumber during one of her afternoon nap sessions when she was awakened by the sound of knocking on the door.

"Miss Laura...Miss Laura...I have news for you!" Neeza announced.

Laura rose from the bed and went to the door to open it. "What is it, Neeza? What is the news?' she asked.

"Sir Graven just arrived today and he brought a woman with him, he called her his fiancee!" Neeza said.

Laura forgot to breathe for a minute due to shock. Not only she was hurting inside she was dying. She no longer wants to see them together! Seeing them together pained her so deeply.

"The rumors say that Sir Graven brought his fiancee home to introduce to Sir Nicholas," added Neeza.

She turned around no longer interested in hearing about them. "Anything else?"

"That's all, Miss. Just be ready tonight because Sir Graven and his fiancee will be staying for dinner," Neeza said before she left the room.

Laura closed the door and went to the bed. She's okay seeing Graven alone but seeing him with his new woman is painful. She will only be eaten up with jealousy. She thinks she will pass joining dinner with them tonight. She will pretend that she's not feeling well.

She went to bed and closed her eyes. Much better if she will fall asleep soundly and wake up the next day 'coz she's not in the mood to see them together.

Yet, no matter how hard she tried to fall asleep, her mind still wanders to the depressing sight she saw inside the plant stall. Graven and that woman! They're a happy couple and for her, it's a bitter pill to swallow.

Three hours later.

Dinner time.

Neeza knocked outside Laura's room. "Miss...dinner time. Please come down, they're waiting for you in the dining room," she announced.

Laura opened the door looking like she's sick with her disheveled hair. "Are Graven and his fiancee... already in the dining room?" she inquired.

"Yes, Miss," the maid answered. "Are you okay?"

Laura shook her head. "I'm not okay. I'm feeling sick, my body is aching. I think I have the flu," she answered. "Can you please tell them I'm not feeling well? And please, just bring my food here, thank you, Neeza," she said.

"Okay, Miss. I'll return later with your food," Neeza said and turned around going back to the hallway.

Laura sighed and went back to bed. She doesn't want to pretend that she's sick, but she's not in the mood to see Graven and his fiancee. They will only destroy her mood.

It's better to stay inside her room and wait until they leave the mansion.

A few minutes later.

Neeza returned with a tray of food. She placed them on the table. "Enjoy your meal, Miss. Here's some medicine for your flu, please take one caplet after you finish your meal," she said and put the medicine on the table. "I'll take my leave now, I'll return later after you are done eating," she said.

"Thank you, Neeza," Laura said and began eating.

The maid left the room.

Thirty minutes later, Laura finished her food and piled the dishes in the tray. Neeza returned and took the dishes away.

"Neeza... wait... are they done eating yet?" Laura asked.

"Yes, they're in the veranda, chatting," answered Neeza. "Do you want to join them?" she asked.

Laura shook her head. "No!" comes her short reply.

"Okay, anything else?" the maid asked.

Laura shook her head. "Nothing. You may go now..." she said.

Neeza exited the room.

Laura went to the window and stared at the horizon. She looked heavenward, it looks like the moon and stars are hiding behind the clouds because all she can see was darkness above her.

One hour later, she heard a knock on the door. "It's open Neeza, come inside," she said without looking at the door.

The door opened.

"Hello Laura!" a vibrant female voice said.

Laura spun around, her eyes widened in shock. It's not Neeza that entered her room, it's Rebecca, Graven's fiancee! She was carrying a cardboard box in her hands.

"Hi there, Laura! Sorry to intrude on your privacy, I know you're not feeling well today. I just come here to bring you this... it's a gift from me. Graven told me that you and Cooper are going to attain the Masquerade Party, so I volunteered to make you a costume for the party. I instructed my favorite tailor to make this costume for you because Graven said that we have the same body built. I hope you'll like it!" Rebecca said, smiling cheerfully. She placed the box on the table.

Laura was speechless. She didn't expect that Graven's fiancee is friendly and thoughtful! She felt guilty right now. She smiled at her. "Thank you for your gift, Rebecca. Very much appreciated by me. I'm sorry I can't entertain you for long. I'm afraid you'll catch my illness," she apologized.

Rebecca smiled. "It's okay, I understand. Rest well, and take your medicine. Drink lots of fluid. I'll take my leave now. Take care of yourself," she said.

"Thank you," Laura said softly.

Rebecca smiled at Laura before she exited the room.

Laura stared at the door in amazement. Wow! Graven is lucky to have such a pretty and kindhearted fiancee! They're perfect for each other!

Those thoughts make her depressed even more.
